This was my first fully animated project in After Effects. Created frame-by-frame from photos that I took during my travel, as well as other traditional images from Rajasthani miniature paintings. Inspired by India’s vibrant culture of chaos, raucous color, spirituality, unique cultural blend of old and new; this animation turned into a colorful media collage. (More photos and stories from my travels are at my blog, Art In Transit.) Daniel Orlansky’s yoga students may recognize this music as the “shaking song”, used for a practice of full-body shaking, which encourages freer flow of energy.
All images were edited in Photoshop, then manipulated using various effects in AE. I particularly enjoyed working with a digital “mixed media”, liberally merging miniature paintings, large scale murals, photos of actual locations, and kinetic text…. doing what animation does best in opening the imagination.
These are examples of the traditional schools of miniature painting from India:
Several of the images are from my travel photos – for instance, the “walking man” is from this wall in Udaipur – alongside another traditional wall mural:
The set for the finale scene was actually one of the hotel rooms I where stayed in Udaipur:
