I have completed the second part of my online course Creative Split Screens. This is a followup to Part 1 of the course, which you can read about here. I designed the curriculum, recorded / edited all the video content, created media assets, and authored the course in Udemy.com. I’m editing in Premiere, titles and motion graphics are in After Effects, and of course the tutorials themselves are about After Effects. I use a combination of screenflows, talking head (yes, that would be MY head!), and looking at finished animations.
I have really developed a love of creating educational content, it’s been rewarding for me to come up with ideas for these project-oriented tutorials. In this course, we work with various techniques, track mattes, parenting, 3D layers, transform properties, keyframes, After Effects expressions and effects… it’s a direct continuation of what was taught in Part 1. There are 3 main projects in this course: Mirrors, Kaleidoscopes, and an animated motion-graphic map of Paris. These projects are each designed to teach some principle about After Effects and encourage exploring new ideas for presenting visual material in your own video work. They were fun for me to design, and I think students will enjoy trying out these techniques.
